Beckenham, UK – With the new 4-pole voice coil actuator from Geeplus, both the speed and the precision required to create complex curvatures and optical finishes on both lenses and mirrors, is now easily achievable.

Developing the high forces necessary for processes of this type, this new voice coil actuator, size for size, operates at very high speeds, offering high acceleration from activation. Manufactured using magnet assemblies and coils from their own UK facility, Geeplus is able to maintain complete quality control throughout the manufacturing process.

Measuring 95mm with a diameter of 77mm, this new voice coil actuator is the latest in the Geeplus  VM series which addresses applications where excellent control characteristics for short stroke bidirectional linear actuation is required – such  in medical or optical equipment.

Voice coil actuators can develop force in either direction by reversing the polarity of excitation. The very low hysteresis, which is typically two orders of magnitude less than that found in proportional solenoids, allied to the flat force characteristic exhibited by the voice coil actuator make this device particularly suited to applications requiring precise control of force and/or position. Voice coil actuators have a major advantage over proportional solenoids in many applications, in that they have extremely low hysteresis. This makes the control of bi-directional movement superior in voice coil actuators.
