Geeplus Adds Overmoulding to World Class Coice Coil Motors

Beckenham, United Kingdom – In addition to winding their own coils, Geeplus are now able to overmould the coils used in their voice coil motors. Being an in-house facility, Geeplus can now offer even greater levels of quality control. One of the first standard products to benefit from this improvement is the VM16, although the process will be extended to all Geeplus VCMs.

Using advanced polymers, the coils are encased in a very thin wall of material which enables good coil packing and a very mechanically robust assembly. Creating a high temperature capability of more than 150°C the process also enables greater flexibility with the use of different shafts.

When overmoulded, the component used in the Geeplus voice coil motors demonstrates a greater media strength with a far wider range of applications where reliability from a robust device is essential.
