Geeplus Introduces Space-Saving Low-Profile Electromagnet

Beckenham, UK – Applications requiring electromagnetic holding force where physical space is restricted can now be satisfied by a new low-profile electromagnet from Geeplus.

Measuring just 13mm deep and developing >150 N of electromagnetic force, this low-profile electromagnet uses custom winding based on a bobbin created by 3D printing at the Geeplus manufacturing facility. Geeplus engineers have also created a new cable exit grommet to prevent wear.

Geeplus supplies both pure steel electromagnets (magnetic attraction when energised) and permanent magnet (electrical release) versions, as well as an optional spring loaded ejector pin to overcome residual magnetism, and, where required, armature plates as a magnetic counterpart for optimum performance. Applications for this low-profile electromagnet include door latching and holdback devices, holding of ferromagnetic workpieces during machining or assembly, safety mechanisms, selector devices in textile machinery and many more.
